My son is in 1st grade and my daughter will be in Kindergarten this fall. Both classes require backpacks. This year my son adorned his backpack with knick knack keychains, pins and other paraphenalia which gave his backpack a unique look. I did the same as a kid and would sew on patches and clip on buttons. Its amazing how my children have grown into independent souls, soon they will be packing for college so I'm going to embrace each stage of their life as much as possible because they sure do grow up fast.
Gutzy Gear allows children's self expression. The entrepreneurial founders of Gutzy Gear created back pack straps that offer customization with Gutzies that are patches that offer personal, interactive, and fun personalization to any backpack. The Gutzies allow children to literally "wear their heart on their sleeve" and express their unique personalities, hobbies and passions. As a busy mom I love how easy it is to attach the Gutzy straps an each Gutzy. They strap on with velcro and even the Gutzies attach on with velcro - no taking out the iron or needle and thread as the Gutzies just stick on and plus they can be moved up and down the strap as needed. There are 28 different and fun Gutzy designs to choose from.
BUY IT
At only $9.99 for the back pack straps and $4.99 for a double pack of Gutzies its not a bad price to allow your children to show their individuality. If you are traveling this summer, Gutzy Gear would be a great investment allowing you to identify your children quickly in a crowd or on the backpack on the baggage carousel. Grab a set online at the Gutzy website here or find a local store near you here.
My daughter loves her customized backpack and is now set for Kindergarten in the fall. I shared sets with my children's friends at a playdate and everyone including the moms love the Gutzy gear, especially the ease of use.

I've been a couponer for as long as I can remember.
My Mom was and still is a big couponer and collector of freebies and so from experiencing this throughout my childhood this trait has been passed on naturally to me. The reason for my Mom's deal seeking activities was not for fun or as a hobby but as a necessity because our household of four were living off one chef's paycheck. My mom would cut coupons from the paper to lower our grocery bills and collect any kind of tokens in the paper for free toys and paraphenalia. While I never had the branded sneakers or barbie toys that my friends had my mom was able to provide us with healthy home cooked meals and clothes on our back.
My husband and I are very blessed in all aspects of our lives, we both have good paying jobs, however, I still get comments from others "why do you need to coupon, you can afford it?". I do it because I can! Why pay full price when you don't have to? Coupons are free money - with a little time spent couponing and matching grocery ads with coupons I can put the money I saved away in the bank or splurge a little. There are so many ways to save money through couponing - I love to share my findings here at The Freebie Junkie - if you want to find a comprehensive guide to couponing then read on....
Rachel Singer Gordon writes the popular couponing blog MashupMom.com. This blog is one of the top 5 blogs that I read on a daily basis. In addition to her blog, Rachel has written several deal seeking books such as Point, Click, and Save: Mashup Mom’s Guide to Saving and Making Money Online (CyberAge, 2010). Rachel's latest book is "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Couponing". I received a copy of the book for review and started to read it as soon as the mailman dropped it off in my mailbox.
This book provides you with all that you need to know about couponing! Couponing is no longer just about waiting for the Sunday paper to arrive with scissors in hand. There are so many resources out there for coupons such as online printable coupon sites and instore coupon catalina machines. Rachel details the coupon basics which are the different types of coupons available and then how to use each most effectively. Couponing has moved on with technology and its not just about the grocery store. Online and mobile couponing is discussed which adds a new dimension for saving on everyday household goods. Planning and organizing is a feature that I need work on because my handbag is stuffed full of coupons and you'll find me the crazy lady sifting through her bag in the aisle looking for that one coupon! This is a great book for the beginner couponer and even if you are an avid couponer its great to have a comprehensive guide at hand. There are new couponing tricks that I didn't even know or think about in this book!

Before marriage my husband and I took many vacations together. We met up at fun cities in Europe and America. After we got married our travels took us even further and we toured Hong Kong, Bangkok and even Austrailia. I look back at all our travels with fondness. Since we had the two little ones our travel has been limited. As you all know traveling with little ones is not only expensive as thats two more flights to pay for but also packing for kids is not fun. Often for our weekend trips to the beach or Grandmas we fill our trunk completely and so packing for a flight where baggage is often an extra charge this sure can add to the trip expense.
Now that our 7 and 5 year old are mobile and independent we're starting to think about trips again. I'd love to take the children to a place where we've visited so that we could share our experience. For now, just a trip away to the beach or to a state we've never been to would be great. For Mother's day wouldn't it be great to receive luggage with a promise for a family trip?
I was offered the opportunity to review an ebag product in the “Mom’s the Word” Gift Guide, items for moms by moms brought you by Bags by eBags. I chose the wheeled laptop convertible below.
This is a great pick for a trip for my needs because it can be used as a carry-on and can hold my laptop for my blogging needs while big enough to hold the kids art supplies to keep them busy on trips. Plus the wheels mean I can load it up as much as I want. I love the stylish mono-pole handle system and the wide base that means it doesn't tip easily. The luggage is convertible though so if you need you can use it as a backpack too. I love luggage that has compartments and this bag offers secret compartments that I can stash the kids candy. Whether you are a Mom who needs luggage for a getaway or a family vacation there's choices galore at ebags.

The price for the wheeled laptop convertible on ebags.com is only $101.99+ free shipping!
Every Christmas my husband's godmother sends over a divine Cherry Cheesecake for our families to enjoy on Christmas eve. She makes it from scratch and everyone looks forward to the cheesecake each year even making room after Christmas dinner for this delight. I do have a copy of the recipe but it looks complicated and I don't really have the time to bake a cheesecake.
Cheesecake does not have to be time consuming or difficult to make. Check out Plentiful Pantry Inc. who has a delicious new No-Bake Key Lime Cheesecake Bars that is easy to make and simply chills in the refrigerator prior to serving. The cute package contains a cheesecake base which is an Oreo cookie crust that you simply mix with melted butter. The cheesecake filling is just as easy to make combining hot water and two packages of cream cheese (I substituted for light cream cheese and it turned out really well). My daughter helped me and she couldn't wait the 1 hour it needed to set. Every 5 minutes she asked if the hour was up : )
When the hour was finally up we found a new exquisite dessert that was delicious and we knew that it didn't take hours to bake. I look forward to serving this at my next party and fooling everyone to think that I had been baking for hours.
(1) Lucky reader will win their own No Bake Key Lime Cheesecake Bars. Simply enter to win through the rafflecopter form below. Giveaway ends May 15th and is open to US residents.
