October's Top 10 Freebies

Fall is one of my favorite seasons, especially for the kids as they run around pumpkin festivals and dress up for halloween.  Check out these free events for the kids.

1.  Check your local library for free book readings and arts and craft events during the week and weekend.  These are usually tailored around fall festivities.

2.  Search online or in your local newspaper for free pumpkin festivals at a local farm.

3. Sign your kids up here for the Lowes "Build and Grow Clinics". Starts at 10am -
October 8th is build a Monster Machine
October 22nd is build a Halloween Monster Truck

4. Sign your children up here for the Home Depot "How to Workshop".  Open to children between 5-12 between 9am-12pm the 1st saturday of the month.  On October 1st at all Home Depot stores come build a fire rescue helicopter.

5. Visit Michael's Store for free Demos & Events - click here for the calendar of spooktacular events.

6. Pottery Barn
Halloween Fashion Show on Saturday October 1st at 2pm
Every Tuesday from 11.00-11.30am come to their book readings

7. Attend the AC Moore Make it Take it Events

8. Free crafts for kids at Lakeshore Learning Stores every Saturday from 11am-3pm

9. Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft Stores

Review: Self Sticking Stikins Labels - One label with multiple uses

With two kids at daycare from an early age I've learnt the hard way to label everything.  The kids are always leaving things at school and many being jackets and cardigans.  There are a few ways to label clothes the quickest and easiest is to use a sharpie.  I don't like to do that as it bleeds through the clothes and also its hard to read the name.  There are sew-on and iron-on labels but who has time to pull out the sewing kit or ironing board?

Stikins labels was developed in 2003 to meet the need for stick-on labels on clothing. There was only iron-on and sew-on labels on the market and parents and caregivers where looking for an easier way to label garments. The Stikins label simply stick on to the wash tag of the garment and is washer and dryer safe. The Stikins label is not limited to clothing but is also used on shoes, boots and items such as pen, pencils, computers, electronics, glasses - you name it. One label does it all!

I was able to customize the labels to my son's name and these work wonders on my son's clothes.  I love the no-iron, no-sew feature and also after a few weeks of wear the Stikins labels remains despite my son's wear and tear actions plus regular washes.
