We have two Nickelodeon fans in our household, notably shows like spongebob squarepants. However, rewind back from 1998-2004 and most kids of my children's age were probably hooked on The Wild Thornberrys. I've never seen the show having spend my childhood in England but I was interested in reviewing the DVD with my children as we enjoy movie monday nights and always on the lookout for fun shows or movies to watch.
On Tuesday May 17th, The Wild Thornberrys Season 1 will be released on DVD. We were excited to be given the opportunity to review this DVD before the general release. The hit series follows the Thornberry family as they travel the world in their Communications Vehicle (or CommVee) looking for rare animals to film. After an encounter with an African shaman, their youngest child Eliza was given the power to speak to animals! Every episode in this adventure-packed DVD set follows Eliza as she comes face-to-face with an assortment of animals, continents and danger. Encounter wildlife in all its natural glory and eavesdrop on Eliza’s conversations with silverback gorillas, pythons, crested grebes, tapirs, capybaras, antelopes and opossums while the CommVee travels on!
We loved the vibrant animation which kept everyone's attention plus of course the interesting stroylines from their travels around the world. I can see why this show lasted so long. There is an all-star voice cast, including Lacey Chabert (Party Of Five), Tim Curry (The Adventures Of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius) and Flea (The Red Hot Chili Peppers) make season one of The Wild Thornberrys an epic family adventure. There are 20 action-packed episodes which for us means hours of entertainment : )
Here's a sneak peak for you
