Story Time For Me - Free Books for Everyone
My children's school has been promoting computer time from a very young age. In my day (oh my, I'm sounding like my Mum) I got a manual type writer when I was a tween and had access to a computer at high school for projects. At college, instant message was this DOS system with a black screen and flashing > key. After school I try to give my kids some computer time too and usually it consists of fun learning sites like Starfall.com. I'm always on the lookout for other fun sites to keep my children entertained while I cook dinner after work.
One such site is STORY TIME FOR ME which is a unique literary website perfect for kids ages 1-8. I like the fact that you do not have to download any software onto your computer. You simply read the books on their site. There are 3 series to explore and 50 books to choose from.
My 5 year old son chose A Circus Adventure in the Ben The Mouse Series
My 3 year old daughter chose The Special Egg story in the Flame the Dragon Series
Both my children loved the stories and can't wait to read more books. We loved the fact that the words are highlighted when spoken so aiding my Kindergartner in sightwords and the characters move around on the page which gives the animated feel that a regular book doesn't. While the books are great learning tools don't forget to reinforce what your child has learnt by asking questions.

I love to superstack coupons at my grocery store. Superstacking to me means combining a store sale with an ecoupon, a store coupon and a manufacturer's coupon and if lucky combining this also with a catalina coupon and manufacturer's rebate. You can imagine how dizzy happy I get when my coupon plan comes together and I score a tonne of free groceries. Ever since I got into superstacking a simple sale is never enough for me.

I'm not sure why the Teletubbies appealed to babies and toddlers alike, these round aliens that did not talk appeared to teach babies to communicate. So when Yo Gabba Gabba appeared on the kids channel I said "oh no not again" but my children took to this show like a duck to water. They were jumping up and down dancing along like there was a party in the house. I gave it a chance and realized its a bright and educational show offering fun learning lessons and awesome dance lessons and there are always guest stars or guest singers/bands that we all love.
Did you know Yo Gabba Gabba Live has been taking their show on the road with a 60 City tour - there's still plenty more stops to be made - check here to see if they are coming to your town. Review: Count's Halloween Spooktacular at Sesame Place
When I ask my children what do they like most about the Fall, they usually shout out HALLOWEEN. To them the Fall consists of dressing up in Halloween costumes, trick or treating, hay rides, mazes, pumpkins, ghosts and last but not least CANDY.
Well you can imagine their faces yesterday when we found all of the above and then some at the Count's Halloween Spooktacular at Sesame Place.
When we arrived we were greeted by the awesome looking Vapor Trail ride which is a huge cool twisting turning roller coaster aimed at the little ones as young as 3 with an adult (or 7 without an adult). My 5 year old son and husband went on it 3 times and I took him on it once. We had to pry him away with the promise of other rides.
The Elmo's Flyin Fish, Grover's World Twirl and Big Bird's Balloon Race were my 3 year old daughter's favorites. They both loved Ernie's Bed Bounce - just think of a huge bounce area - it was a shame that only children under 7 were allowed as I think the parents were eyeing the kids through the safety nets with envy.
While at first glance it seemed the park had more water activities (which are closed in the Fall) than dry activities this was not a problem as the rides alone filled most of our time and then there were other fun activities such as trick or treat stations that kept us all ready for some more fun filled action.
The not so scary Halloween maze was a favorite with the kids and adults, here you can see my kids having fun with Myron O' Lantern the talking interactive pumpkin.
Unfortunately, we had other arrangements and could not attend the other two shows (namely Eagles vs Redskins game - yes do not even talk to me about that), but I'm sure that would have been a wonderful time.
Even if you don't get close up to the characters at the show there were plenty of photo ops with the characters who could be found scattered around the park. Our favorite was hanging with Telly Monster on the Hayride outside of the park. I think if I was a child and I told my friends I went on a hayride with Telly Monster I would have had a hard time time convincing them. Well here's the evidence!
Check here for the calender of events for October, there's still plenty of time to go and save yourself $20 on single-day admission weekends only from 9/25/10-10/31/10 at any of their participating retail partners. Discount valid for up to six people. I just found out they have a Christmas event at Sesame Place too.
And here's a huge bonus event for Bucks County Residents (PA) - On Saturday, November 13, free flu shots will be provided to Bucks County residents. Come to Sesame Place and get your flu shot at a giant drive-thru vaccination clinic, you will not have to get out of your car. Special needs lines are available if additional help is needed from nurses who are vaccinating, those getting vaccinated must be able to expose arm. Flu immunizations are available for everyone five years old and older. No ID required, but will have to fill out basic personal information to receive vaccine. The clinic will start at 9:00am and run until 1:00pm. how awesome is that!
