Dreams and plans for new possibilities

Who would have thought back in April this year that I'd have a fun blog with so many possibilities. 

I first learnt about wheeling and dealing from my Mum.  My Mum was a stay at home Mum for our early years and on a Chefs salary our household budget was very tiny so my Mum had to be creative to ensure there was a good meal on the table and clothes on our back. We lived in a town where there was a weekend market where you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables and also clothes and other sundries.  My Mum would go shopping at the market around 4pm on a Saturday (one hour before closing) and start negotiating prices for fresh vegetables and fruit.  She was always successful as the market traders had to get rid of the stock as it will go bad before the next market day which was Wednesday.  With all the extras she would walk round to her friends and share the extras (no charge).  My Mum taught me that you do not need to pay full price for things and "if you don't ask you don't get".

 After the sticker shock of double the cost with an extra child I started couponing hard after the birth of my second child.  With the help of forums and other blogs I learnt that stacking coupons, sales and rebates was an option and soon enough I was getting everyday brand products for free or as a steal or deal. I would share my deals with my friends via email and after a while I thought why don't I share my deals via a blog this way I can share with a wider audience.  So The Freebie Junkie was born in late April, 2010 and here we are 8 months later with nearly 50,000 page views a month and nearly 3000 followers.  Thank you to all my followers as with your continued interest I continue to offer my freebies, steals and deals and now a huge list of giveaways too.

The possibilities for The Freebie Junkie are endless for 2011 and beyond.  I hope to invest in designing a more user friendly website so that you can find the deals that work for you and your family.  Also, I would like to expand so that freebies/deals and steals can be covered for all markets of the US (especially areas that I do not live in) and also help relieve my workload too (to my husbands joy).  This would involve bringing in some fellow Freebie Junkie readers to assist.  The logisitics of this is daunting but very possible so bear with me as I work out the ideas in my head onto paper and then into fruition.

One day, I hope to be able to offer a car or maybe a house as a giveaway!  Wouldn't that be something!  Watch out Oprah I have your spot in my sight - LOL!
